REVIEW

I’m no true metalhead or poser, neither, so this review comes from a place where I focus on the music, not the band’s background. People who know me well know I like music that comes barbarically forth from the void. Devil Master satisfy that, even though this music takes place between dark-as-night hallucinations and the rock and roll stage.
This band doesn’t focus on the doom and gloom. The guys here are the doom and gloom, and they crawled out of Hades to enjoy the beer and LSD we serve on earth’s crust. The music is raw, cohesive and true to form: you hurtle and surf through listens, on a journey of being burnt and dishevelled throughout. And that’s just the guitar doing its job.
The vocals poke their head up every so often like a poltergeist, but maybe not as often, you can understand a word or two. That’s great guys, if you’re doing demon’s work maybe we shouldn’t know. (ha-ha).
Back to the raw unfettered-ness. It should be noticed that each little iota of masochistic guitar detail is enshrined in appropriate levels of hateful overtones and spiteful basslines. If I had to pick out the tones and possible influences, I’d say it shares the tempered resilience of Japanese punk, as surf rock styles take a back seat compared with the Satan Spits LP.
I wont go into the business of just trying to describe the songs or sound by comparing them to other stuff. That habit should have died when the internet became a thing. In this era, we take and plunder as we will, but I suggest you throw some cash Devil Master’s way! Drinks ain’t getting cheaper!
