The Humble Rock Dove

Not all superheroes wear stupid outfits and go round saving lives…

…but many do and they are called musicians.

This is how much I love sleep when I find a cracking Krautrock playlist

You know what? There’s about one person in the world who really cares about my tastes in music, and that’s me. What was David Bowie’s favorite wine? Who cares? Nobody. But I can tell you Robert Christgau has a predisposition to liking African style tunes, and that matters somewhat, or used to, when things were different to they are today. The critic and the music magazines are taking back seats in plenty of people’s lives, if they are at all. Why does anyone, why WOULD anyone want one of those things when we got the ‘net and its platforms and algorithms. If you know me online, and you’ve ghosted me recently (especially), it might be because I’ve become intolerable about posting and sending music to people. See? I have highlighted again (without meaning to) why people should rejoice in absence of critic mags and advertisement, we have our own minds and ears and tongues and tastes, so why do the unnecessary?

I ditched the middle-man as soon as broadband appeared in my life. Anyone here remember limewire and frostwire? Thanks for the one billion viruses, and such earache, it was blissful…

Let’s skip forward to last night and today. Krautrock. It’s post-WW2, German rock music that skipped western influence, however it’s down-to-the-earth and roots, rock n’ roll. Discovering this genre was a gift from the gun of the angel of love. When I share it with people, I’m thinking it should be so palatable and agreeable that it just should be shared like bread. When I share specific songs I am scoping out individuals who seem like they have an open ear and open heart ready, and, by the angel of love and tranquility’s grace, may they benefit from it!

These bands, from Harold Grosskopf, to The Groundhogs, Gong and Can, Neu!, and Faust, to so many others (that i don’t know why i bothered to list any), make a brand of music that takes on its sworn duty to be as mellow, selfless, chilled and effortless to it’s maximum. I say the genre is selfless, as I haven’t met a genre so empty of the artist’s ego yet as filled with soul, since classical!

Krautrock, and any other music that rightly records under it’s banner, I have found to be so “about the music”, “about the vibe”, and about what the instrument itself is capable of, that it stands like a monument to “what’s all the fuss about?”.

Krautrock makes western music look like advertisements for the band’s ego.

That’s what I have to say.
Good morning btw.
