How would you feel if you’d put out forty-six YouTube videos within a month, and quite literally: the viewer count is usually one or none?
That’s what’s facing me today. It’s definitely a bit irregular for anyone, and I will not over-reach, name names or guess why it is. I’ll just get on with it. Why? I’ll tell you exactly and precisely why, now: I know they’re good. I know that I myself am a good man with a good heart, and I can click on any of my videos at any time without feeling embarrassment or regret. What I say in my videos, I feel is relevant to the currents of culture. They are the antithesis of the current global “trending” videos. Maybe because I see it as a commitment and a ritual as opposed to a serious hobby I want to make money from. In any case, the only sensible way, the only way that makes sense, is to keep doing it.
I like to make these videos, and there are repeating themes. Quite often I’ll read a script, just exactly like this one, and relay condensed thoughts and expanded packages of info, with insights I don’t see elsewhere. Is it my unique “way” that has averted or diverted attention away from me? Do my videos touch any nerves, unwelcomely, by way of my candour and commitment to honesty? Have I some other characteristic that an audience finds unfit for viewing? It’s impossible to say. It really is. Because I don’t just post my mind, I don’t just talk about the first things I can think of.
Many of these videos are as organic as possible. I think the auto-assigned thumbnails are usually quite good at capturing the mood of these videos, too.
The format of “guy with camera talking what makes sense to only himself” is fair enough. I DO make these videos for myself as the primary audience. Actually watching them, is a reminder, I AM sentient, I AM human, I AM alive, and my story is definitely one-of-a-kind. And not just the deeper issues are covered, only – on the surface I bring information and certain issues that are in very short supply these days. Authenticity is precisely the golden rule on my channel. It thrives here. Video after video has almost zero editing, and if it has any at all, its minimal as can be.
Overall I think its good to commit to a craft like this one, and push it as far as it can be pushed, just to see.
